This is a newly opened facility that has a well planned layout. The staff is great/friendly. Rooms are very clean with a common area that offers activity, amble materials to prepare food, free coffee, movie night, guided day hikes and yoga if interested.
The location is perfect for exploring Cannery Road, beach and has great restaurants within easy walking distance. The staff can give you ideas of places to visit, eat etc. Couldn't of spent hundreds of more $$$$ and received better place to stay.

We had a really lovely time here. Immaculately clean, friendly people, and calm atmosphere. Well-stocked kitchen and quiet at night. Walking distance to cannery row and a business district but not right on the main drag. Perfect stay! Thank you Ryan and Co!

We had a delightful weekend staying with friends and family at the Monterey Hostel. They have created a comfortable, communal environment with lovely touches for guests to enjoy--stringed instruments for strumming, tv in the common room, a sunny deck and patio, water-conscientious fixtures and signage. The accommodations are casual, inviting, charming, and very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Located blocks from Cannery Row and the beach, steps from lots of wonderful restaurants, shops, and outdoor spaces, it is situated in an ideal part of Monterey with ample and affordable parking. It's an easy walk to the Monterey Bay Aquarium too! We will be back and we hope this gem continues to thrive! Thank you, Ryan, for your hard work and hospitality. We are so happy with our experience.

I cannot recommend Monterey Hostel more highly. This place was amazing in every way, and I look forward to going back for a longer stay! The space is clean and bright. The beds are comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. The location can't be beat!

Had a wonderful stay here! The room I had was very well appointed and comfortable, and the common shared space amenities were very nice. I had a private bathroom which was very clean and well maintained, and the room had plenty of space for just myself in there. The staff they had working we’re all incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the location. I met some great people in my travels and would definitely stay here again!

We stayed with our two children in a private room with bathroom. The whole hostel was beautifully renovated and spotless. While the room was small, it had everything we needed for our one night stay. The location of the hostel is great: walking distance to the aquarium and dining. |Would highly recommend to anyone looking for an affordable and comfortable place to stay.

I had a wonderful 3-night stay at the hostel with my two daughters! I wanted to provide them a different travel experience without sacrificing safety, cleanliness, and aesthetic appeal, and the hostel truly delivered in these respects and others.

We stayed in a private room with an en suite bathroom. The room was clean on arrival, nicely decorated, and very comfortable. My mattress, pillows and linens were very soft and comfortable.

The hostel is very cheerfully decorated in hues of dusty blue, sage green, and muted orange, with rainbows throughout. My 10 year old said she wants to redecorate her room in the style of the hostel.

The director and other staff were extremely friendly and helpful! Thank you for engaging and keeping a watchful eye on my girls, especially my wild 7 year old.

I appreciated being able to keep groceries in a shared refrigerator and pantry, and prepare light meals. It felt like staying at an Airbnb, except that I got to chat with my fellow hostel guests while cooking! I also appreciated the community rules (eg washing and drying all one’s dishes) and was amazed at how quickly my children jumped on board. I’m hoping the hostel effect lasts…

The hostel is very conveniently located to so many amenities. We walked to the grocery store, the aquarium and Cannery Row, First Awakenings for breakfast, Starbucks etc.

In summary, I can’t recommend the Monterey Hostel enough, especially to families!

This was one of the most cheerfully decorated, well-designed and clean hostel I have stayed at. Location is great, close to the Aquarium and Cannery Row. Lovely staff. The hostel can get really busy, especially with school groups, but the 10pm curfew is generally respected. Thanks for a pleasurable stay!
