My wife and I loved this “European feel” hotel — only one block from an access entrance to the extraordinary High line. Rooms are small, but hotel grounds include spacious courtyards front and back. We also loved the charming neighborhood restaurant next to the hotel: Cookshop. My wife did not feel well when we checked in; the hotel manager and staff made immediate and much-appreciated accommodations for her.

We had a wonderful time here. Know where you’ll be staying—in a historic building with decor and furniture chosen to suit, albeit with some welcome modern touches like an in-room fridge—and you are in for an excellent time. The mostly young staff is lively and friendly, the courtyard areas are great to relax or work in, and we only had to walk a half-block or so either way to enjoy a good meal at reasonable (by NYC standards) prices. The hotel seemed busy, with a very international mix of visitors, but our floor was always quiet. And as for the air conditioning: my wife likes to keep the room cool and, even on simmering days, she was happy as a penguin. Thanks High Line!

A Hilton this is NOT. Actually, in so many ways, a good thing. If you like a touch of history and a yesteryear aesthetic, quaint and quirky, chill and friendly, and aren’t turned off by old and creaky, AND you can handle the pricing of right location… this hotel is conveniently located in Chelsea, features a nice little coffee shop, and has vintage character and feel. My accommodation was a smaller room with a comfy bed, antique cabinet, desk, and lamps, and nice little bath-shower, all clean and functional. The window unit A/C was very adequate, thankfully, as outside was sunny and hot for mid-June. I enjoyed a spritzer outdoors in their enclosed outdoor garden space on late afternoon arrival, and a perfect cappuccino my next morning… lovely and relaxed. The staff was very friendly and helpful, as I needed some assistance puzzling out the operation of the old lift (elevator)… no worries, a quick “tutorial” got me situated in my room on the 4th floor… quaint, and quiet, easily adjusted for light/dark (curtains and drapes)… one can imagine a day when guests penned letters or postcards on the writing desk… today, a flat screen smart TV and cable (though in the heart of Manhattan, who really needs it?). Admittedly, it’s a pricey indulgence for less than state-of-the-art digs, yet comfortable, sufficient for a relaxed two night stay. Loved it.

I’ve always wanted to stay at this hotel because it’s so beautiful from the outside. Unfortunately, they put us in their worst room, on the ground floor, just off the lobby. It was an outdated room with no soundproofing whatsoever. We could hear every truck rumble by on the street, the guest in the next room coughing. At 6:40 am the lobby coffee shop started getting ready to open and thus ensued a cacophony of noise: knocking, banging, the hiss of the espresso machine. Dogs barking, people laughing. On top of that, the tub didn’t drain, so I had to stand in two inches of filthy water while showering. With tax, I paid over $600 for this terrible experience. L7 is the worst room I’ve stayed anywhere in Manhattan. If you choose to stay here, do not permit this hotel to put you on the ground floor.

I'm going to start by saying something nice: it's perfectly located in Chelsea. But:

- I paid $1,250 for 2 nights.
- My room was below street level, with an outdoor cafe on one side and the hotel barista on the other.
- The room was not well kept in terms of maintenance and cleanliness.
- overall, a huge disappointment.

We got a great deal on our stay here. We got upgraded to a King deluxe, and my dog stayed for free! The staff was extremely helpful. I was concerned about noise (as per other reviews), but we had no problems with the street noise at all (expected City Life). The room was spacious and has old charm. The location was perfect for me- to have the garden and quiet, be near the river, and still walkable to lower Manhattan sites. I cannot wait to go back!

The High Line Hotel offers a unique and charming experience in the heart of Chelsea. Its historic building, with its Gothic architecture and stained-glass windows, exudes a distinct character. Guests appreciate the tranquil atmosphere, comfortable rooms, and attentive service. While some rooms may lack modern amenities, the hotel's proximity to the High Line and Chelsea Market makes it a great choice for exploring this vibrant neighborhood. Overall, if you're seeking a charming and unique stay with a touch of history, The High Line Hotel is worth considering.

I booked through Hotwire, only discovering where I'd be staying after confirming, and there were a few reviews here that made me worry just a bit. I simply cannot understand not falling in love with this place. All I can think is that the people who didn't like it lack imagination or left out context of their own bad behavior that led to them wanting to be spiteful, because it is an absolutely exquisite hotel with a friendly and attentive staff.

The room was well appointed with incredible details that activated every bit of romantic visioning in my brain. It's easy to imagine living in this hotel, writing a masterpiece of a novel, and having the time of my life.

The service was fantastic. Every person I spoke to on staff was eager to be of service, took care of everything quickly and easily, and was fun and engaging along the way.

I enjoyed exploring hidden corners of the hotel, the wonderful art on display, and the gorgeous spots for sitting with coffee and a book inside and out.

I've suggested the hotel to a long list of friends, hoping others will have the same experience of living briefly in another time that I was able to have. What a treat this place is.
