There are no words to express my gratitude toward Dr. Starke and his team. My husband required two separate surgeries to remove two cavernoma malformations. Because we were nervous about brain surgeries, we went to other surgeons for second and third options. Both surgeons said “Dr. Starke is the best of the best. Why are you here?” They were right! Dr. Starke had this confidence to him that put our minds at ease. During the surgeries, someone from the team kept me updated, which was greatly appreciated. At the end, Dr. Starke himself called me to tell me how everything went. That call meant the world to me! The recovery went exactly how Dr. Starke told us it would go. There were no surprises. I am so glad we trusted our gut and went with Dr. Starke. I cannot image going through this process with anyone else.

After suffering a brain bleed at 50 years old and discovering I had two large cavernomas, my wife and I were scared and uncertain about the next steps. We sought multiple opinions in South Florida, and ironically, they all told us that if we could get an appointment with Dr. Starke, he was the expert to see.

When I finally saw Dr. Starke, I understood why everyone was referring us to him. Although no one looks forward to brain surgery, I decided to move forward with him, after we discussed the statistics and risks of further bleeding and potential for more life threating neurological injuries. He has since performed two craniotomies with resections of vascular malformations on me - one in the frontal lobe and one in the cerebellum. Besides a clean scar at each incision point (which are still healing), I am still in awe of how skilled Dr. Starke is, and how he was able to successfully remove both cavernomas without any neurological or physical deficits.

My family and I are forever grateful to Dr. Starke and his team for saving my life, and allowing me to hopefully live a normal, healthy life after this huge scare.

My fiancée came to Dr.Starke after recently finding out about a AVM he was diagnosed with and was told to find a neurosurgeon, as you can imagine this was one of the most challenging obstacles in our life to face especially in your early 20s. When we met with Dr.Starke we instantly knew we were in good hands, he was amazing with communication i have yet to met another surgeon that communicates with his patients like he does. Everything he said he was gonna do, he did. The confidence he has when speaking makes you feel so at ease, he knows how to educate and talk in such manner we can understand and be FULLY educated on EVERYTHING not just the process. Not only does he know how to communicate he knows how to reassure and comfort JUST by his communication skills makes you really get your peace of mind back. This was the hardest time in our life and Dr.Starke really helped my fiancée get out of a really dark place in his life just by being there, usually surgeons don’t really communicate much and if it is it’s just to explain the process and that’s it and i’m speaking on experiences. He took the time to tell us EVERYTHING about an AVM, he took his time speaking to us and would look FOR us. I never seen anyone LOOK for their patients, he went above and beyond and i am forever grateful we came across this neurosurgeon. He will never truly know how much he changed our lives and our future. Again, Dr.Starke thank you. I wish you nothing but the best in life i will never be able to repay you for the change in quality of life you have made for my fiancée. We will pick you as our neurosurgeon in every single lifetime !

Dr. Starke recently preformed endovascular surgery on my husband. We met with no less than 5 doctors before making a decision on surgery and once we met Dr. Starke he was our number one choice.
